Glycol (ethylene glycol) is also known as ethylene glycol, 1, 2-ethylene glycol, or EG. The formula is CH2OH 2. It's the simplest diol. Ethylene glycol is a colorless, odorless, sweet liquid with low toxicity to animals. Ethylene glycol is miscible with water and acetone, but its solubility in ether is very small. Used as solvent, antifreeze and raw material for polyester synthesis. The polymer of glycol, polyethylene glycol (PEG), is a phase transfer catalyst and is also used in cell fusion; Its nitrates are explosives.

physico-chemical property | Colorless transparent viscous liquid, sweet taste, with hygroscopicity. It is miscible with water, low aliphatic alcohols, glycerol, acetic acid, acetone and similar ketones, aldehydes, pyridine and similar coal tar bases, slightly soluble in ether, almost insoluble in benzene and its homomers, chlorinated hydrocarbons, petroleum ethers and oils. |
product use | Mainly used in the production of synthetic resins, surfactants and explosives, but also used as antifreeze. |
security | Staff should take good protection, touching the eyes and skin, should immediately flush with running water. Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat. Keep out of direct sunlight. Keep the container sealed. It should be stored separately from oxidants and acids. |
