Also known as oxacyclopentane, 1, 4-epoxy butane, is a heterocyclic organic compound, the chemical formula is C4H8O, belongs to the ether class, is the complete hydrogenation product of furan, colorless liquid, similar to the smell of hexyl ether, soluble in water, ethanol, ether, acetone, benzene, water and most organic solvents. Vapor can form explosives with air, and acid contact can react, in the case of open fire, strong oxidant has caused combustion risk, and potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide reaction. Mainly used as solvent, chemical synthesis intermediate, analytical reagent.
Tetrahydrofuran is an important raw material for organic synthesis and an excellent solvent, tetrahydrofuran has good solubility to many organic compounds, it can dissolve all organic compounds except polyethylene, polypropylene and fluorine resin, especially has good solubility to polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride and butyl aniline, is widely used as a reactive solvent. As a common solvent, tetrahydrofuran has been widely used in surface coatings, protective coatings, ink, extractant and artificial leather surface treatment, tetrahydrofuran is an important raw material for the production of polytetramethylene ether diol (PTMEG), is also the main solvent in the pharmaceutical industry. Used as a solvent for natural and synthetic resins (especially vinyl resins), but also for the production of butadiene, adiponitrile, adipic acid, adipdiamine, etc.

security | Toxic! It has a narcotic effect. Inhalation causes upper respiratory tract irritation, nausea, dizziness, headache, and central nervous system depression. The maximum allowable concentration in the air is 200×lo-6. Usually the product has an inhibitor. Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat. Keep out of direct sunlight. The package should be sealed and not in contact with air. It should be stored separately from oxidants, acids and bases. |
